Dianova (Berberine 500mg) is used in Diabetes mellitus by increasing the glucose uptake inside the cells, insulin sensitizing effect, incretin effects and by DDP4 inhibition.

Pharmacological action

Improving insulin action by activating AMP-activated protein kinase AMPK (Metabolic Master Switch)

Improves glucose metabolism through induction of Glycolysis

Promoting GLP-1 (Incretins) secretion and modulating its release

(Incretins) cause short-term increase in the amount of Insulin

Inhibition of DPP-4 ,similar to Sitagliptin

Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) is the enzyme responsible for inactivation of Incretins

Contra-Indications:

Hypersensitivity to ingredient.

Storage:

Drug Interactions:

Should be avoided in patients taking macrolide
antibiotics like azithromycin, clarithromycin
and Immunosuppressant, Cyclosporins

Side-Effects:

May cause gastric discomfort in sensitive individuals
in initial days of use which subsides gradually .
