26/09/2022

Cedar wood oil works as an effective natural remedy for oral lesions owing to its inherent property of providing an antiseptic cover.

Cedar wood Oil Application

Devadaru tail or the Cedar wood oil is believed to display rapid anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and demonstrates particular fungi-toxic actions. Having been used and vouched by various traditional systems of medication since ages, the cedar wood essential oil is a natural antiseptic which is extensively effective owing to the superior skin care properties that it holds. Cedrol, alpha-cedrene, beta-cedrene and thujopsene are some of the active components found in this particular extract, which primarily equip it with potent health promoting properties and make the Cedar wood oil a long-proven herbal remedy against a host of health distresses which includes providing systemic relief in the condition of oral lesions.

How does it work?

This extract obtained from the cedars is especially useful when applied topically onto the lesions and also on problematic skin conditions of wounds, cuts, burns, insect bites, skin rashes, eczema, etc. Cedar wood oil has the tendency to disinfect the oral lesion and prevent the bacteria and germs from growing and proliferating on or around the oral abrasion. Besides, the same also goes a long way in speeding up the healing process. It boosts up the activity of the WBCs in our blood as well as that of our entire immune system, thus allowing the lesions and wounds to heal faster and better. Similarly, in case of skin based fungal infections, topical application of diluted cedar extract acts as a fungicidal and provide relief not only on the surface but from the roots. No wonder why the cedar extract remains one of the vital ingredients in a number of herbal antiseptic and antifungal ointments.

Health and wellness promoting

This particular essential oil also comes loaded with a variety of other healing properties as well as those that promote our overall health and wellness. Apart from being a powerful antiseptic, this essential oil extract also happens to be astringent, diuretic, antispasmodic, anti-seborrheic, tonic, expectorant, emmenagogue, insecticidal and sedative. This oil also addresses various inflammatory issues as well. The extract, apart from being used topically, can also be used for aromatic purposes owing largely to its warm, woody and pleasant fragrance that promotes relaxation and a feeling of overall well-being.

Can be used often

Being strong and essential in nature, we can mix it with a carrier cream or simply with some water in order to dilute it, and apply it on the affected area. We can repeat this as often. Therefore, make sure to keep some cedar wood essential oil in your first aid kid and use this especially effective antiseptic as a handy, homemade herbal cream by mixing it with your regular cream/lotion or even some drops of water.

More healthcare options

  • Another good idea is the application of aloe vera gel, a natural antiseptic, at least three to four times a day on the affected area.
  • Tulsi (Basil) also has amazing therapeutic benefits and amazingly, this also holds true in the case of oral lesions. Just pick a few fresh leaves and make into a decoction and use this as oral rinsing solution for gargles and rinsing 3 - 4 times a day. Tulsi leaves allow faster healing of the oral lesions and ulcers, and also ensure that these do not recur.
  • Consume a beverage made of khus khus ( poppy seeds) and some sugar for a nice, cooling effect on the oral lesions. This not only heals the lesions, but also takes out the excess heat from the oral cavity, thus preventing their recurrence.
  • Sodium Bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, is believed to be effective. You could apply it directly onto the lesion by mixing it with a little water.
  • Gargle three to four times a day with some water in which coriander leaves had been boiled, and allowed to go warm. Similar technique can be used with fenugreek leaves as well. Make sure to strain the leaves and only use the warm water.
  • Liquorice, also known as mulethi, has some amazing medicinal benefits to offer. It has long been known to work right against inflammation, and to help us get rid of the painful oral lesions most naturally.
