Wake up! These 6 nutrition myths might be playing with your love for food

When everybody around has got something or the other to complain about the food you cherish the most- heartbreak is what I name it. From chocolate to cheese - they've got negative remarks for everything. It's time to debunk the nutrition myths that have been causing havoc in our diets since a long-long time.

  • Myth 1: Carbohydrates make you fat.
Truth: Contrary to the theories that have been circulating for a while, it's binging on too many calories, which gives you the extra baggage. It's unquestionable that loading on refined carbs will raise health problems, but at the same time, cutting out on good carbs like whole grain foods is like trying to drive a car without its fuel.
  • Myth 2: Eating eggs means inviting heart problems.
Truth: Undoubtedly, egg yolk does contain a substantial amount of cholesterol which is known for clogging arteries and putting our heart at a risk, but blacklisting it as something that is "bad for our heart" is like connecting the wrong dots. The actual culprits are Trans and saturated fats that make our hearts susceptible to a variety of health problems. For most of us, our body can afford an egg a day, by producing less cholesterol itself. Make room for eggs with a proper diet, and not a three-egged omelet. Know your math.
  • Myth 3: Added sugar will always harm you.
Truth: Keeping in mind all that sugar does for you, from adding taste to baked goods to sweetening beverages; it'll be incorrect to declare added sugar as harmful, when what really matters is the quantity. Although, best natural sweeteners like 'Sunova Dr.Shugar' have got your back for this one too. Made of Stevia leaf extracts, these are completely natural and have got 300 times the sweetness of natural sugar- the best deal for adults. To be honest folks, myths like these will cause heartache to anybody who has to favor their sweet tooth and health at the same time.
  • Myth 4: Coffee is bad for you.
To quote my sentiments in just a few words- "What is a day without espresso? Depresso." If you tell any coffee lover that coffee is bad for them, you'll leave them flabbergasted. So here's the good new, coffee is not bad for you. It's an alarm which wakes you up with happy taste buds. Coffee also aids in burning fat and improving physical performance. As far as diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's are concerned, you'll be less susceptible to these. If drinking the right amount of coffee every day can give you the desired antioxidants and fight stress and lethargy, then why quit the beans?
  • Myth 5: Calories consumed at night harm us more than any other time.
Truth: Calories don't depend on time, and they serve you equally, be it during the day or at night. Calories are calories. It's simply baseless for us to believe that time governs the effect food has on us. It's definitely advised to eat light during the night before going off to sleep for various digestion concerns, and nothing else. . If you finish a box of chocolates during the day, or during mid-night, you'll see a bulging belly in both situations- no escape folks!
  • Myth 6: Food cravings happen because of deficiency of certain nutrients which that food may provide.
There is one deficiency that is certainly related to cravings- iron. Other than that, your food cravings are solely related to emotions and personal wishes. You might feel the urge to binge on certain food because your regular meals have bored you to death, or probably because you're too happy to eat mainstream. At the same time, you might feel like chomping on Italian or Chinese because the idea is stimulating enough on a hectic day.

Did you just take a sigh of relief? We're glad we could glue your broken hearts and spread healthy smiles across. Stay aware and know what you're eating, and what the best and worst is that it can do for you.
