Change Your Lifestyle, Improve Your Health

healthcare
Around the world, a number of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular ailments, asthma, depression etc. are affecting the health and well-being of millions of people. These diseases are no longer confined to the developed world; people in developing countries are equally vulnerable.
In fact, the increasing prevalence of obesity fuelled lifestyle diseases in urban India is being strongly linked to our adopting a westernized lifestyle - smoking, consuming alcohol/drugs/fast food coupled with a sedentary lifestyle are making us increasingly prone to such disease.
As we continue aping the West, every person having a sedentary job is a likely candidate for a lifestyle disease. Even for people with moderately active lifestyles, the increased availability of processed food and fast food will make one a candidate for lifestyle disease.
The key to maintaining health and preventing life style diseases is to focus on reducing the risk factors that you can control- namely, your diet and level of physical activity. Other aspects that you should also look at are learning how to manage your stress levels, getting enough sleep, and quitting smoking.
When it comes to eating right, people equate healthy eating to eating bland, boring, and unexciting foods. Eating right actually means following a balanced diet and eating moderate amounts, while maintaining a sufficient variety, in terms of nutrient content and taste.
While opting for the right food items, focus on the following:
  • Ensure that you get your daily dose of fibre. A high fibre diet is important for maintaining a healthy body weight, good digestion and a healthy heart.
  • It is also important to cut down your sugar intake. It is best to avoid such unnecessary calorie intake, since it could lead to unwanted weight gain. So, it's recommended that you replace sugar with Sunova Dr. Shugar - a natural sweetener, devoid of empty calories, but full of the sweetness of Stevia leaf extract. It is free of harmful chemicals and side effects. Thus, Dr. Shugar is 100% safe and natural.
  • Regular consumption of Sunova Spirulina, a potent "Superfood", is highly recommended. It has been consumed for centuries due to its high nutritional value and supposed health benefits. Often referred to as 'a miracle of the sea,' this blue green microalga, Sunova Spirulina is a powerful antioxidant. It stimulates the immune system, protecting against flu, colds etc, besides reducing cholesterol levels and restoring energy. It protects vital organs and helps prevent cancer. Sunova Spirulina promotes general well being, besides fighting depression, anxiety, memory problems and stress.
  • Using less salt in your meals is advisable; you could spice up your food with herbs and spices, instead. Also, limiting intake of high fat foods to maintain a healthy body weight and heart, can be very helpful in preventing lifestyle diseases.
These simple dietary precautions when coupled with brisk walking and exercising can ensure that one can steer clear of lifestyle diseases and lead a healthy life.
